An Autumnal Sunday

Did you feel it too? That slow growing feeling that change is in the air? Last weekend it really felt like Autumn was there gently tapping your shoulder and letting you know that it's nearly time.

On Saturday it rained all. day. long, I wore tights and boots but it felt cosy not suffocating, it didn't make me think of all the things I could be doing but made is easier to just want to stay in doors and hibernate. But by the time Sunday rolled around the rain continued and I started to feel like I wanted to get outside, so when by the afternoon the clouds cleared the sun came out I was ready to go. We've still been taking it really easy since Rohan's operation, so we didn't want to venture too far so we decided to go on a blackberry hunt around the village. We prepared a roast before we left and went out whilst it was cooking, with the aim to make a crumble with our findings later.

We didn't have to go very far before we found hedges full of brambles and got stuck in to picking their fruit. Conveniently this led us to the park, so the boys played awhile whilst we foraged, taking it in turns to push Rowie on the swing and bounce Theo on the see-saw.

Theo is pretty clumsy (wonder where he gets that from?!) and managed to fall off the curb and scrap up his knee on the way there, cue a run back to the house for the first aid kit, and one big plaster later all was back to normal. We played a little while at the park, filled up our tub and soaked up that late afternoon fresh after-rain air before our tummies called us home for our first proper Roast of the season.

I'm so excited for this time of year once more and this was the perfect introduction to Autumn!
