A weekend in London: The Landmark London

We had been looking forward to this weekend gone by for a long time. It has become a sort of tradition for us to go away for Rob's birthday, just the two of us and it was much needed. We had a weekend of fun planned that included comic book shop shopping, meeting with friends, eating and drinking. Oh and a stay in a luxury 5* Hotel...

Friday provided us with just that, as we arrived in the afternoon and walked around Soho, Carnaby Street, China Town and Leicester Square taking in the sights and visiting a few shops. Rob got his birthday wish of visiting London comic book stores, whilst he drooled over graphic novels and comics I immersed myself in the great children's books sections and we whiled away the afternoon. Later we met up with my group of besties for an evening of eating and drinking. As it was London cocktail week we headed to seven dials in search of an underground 1950's diner, serving bourbon cocktails and American dishes complete with roller skating waitress's...sounds to good to be the true right? And it was, we found the place, but alas it was dark, crowded with no food in sight and the waitress's just had normal shoes on...Scandal! But not to let it ruin our night we skipped over a few streets to a tried and tested favourite, The Diner to tuck into some burgers and hard shakes. An evening of cocktails, chatting and laughing continued into the early hours. (Apparently I was having too much fun that I forgot to take out my camera once!)

On Saturday we awoke slightly bleary eyed and fuzzy headed and relaxed in our child free hungover state. But soon the sunshine drew us out and we met for a quick lunch at our favourite Turkish in Harringay before Rob and I headed over to Marylebone for the main attraction.

We were booked to stay for the night in The Landmark London and couldn't wait to drop our bags and take in the luxurious surroundings. The weather was a perfect early Autumn day, with light pouring through the trees throwing long shadows on the pavements and illuminating buildings.

I'm not sure whether I've ever set foot or in fact stayed somewhere so beautiful! As soon as we stepped up to the door we were greeted with the door held open. We were welcomed and checked in with great ease, and made to feel like special and valued guests from the attentive staff. We found our way to our suite, yes suite, through great corridors and greeted by every member of staff we passed.

The hotel is classically decorated, with a feel of great quality and luxury throughout and our suite certainly was not lacking. As we opened the door not knowing what to expect we were definitely wowed.

The light poured in through the large windows, casting shadows and pools of light all over the room. We were amazed to see that our suite included a separate hallway and living area with everything we could need. The bedroom was generously sized and the attached bathroom included well lit double mirrors, a walk in wardrobe, deep bath, walk in shower and separate toilet. I was sad we were only staying for a night, as I could happily use this as my base for exploring London for a week!

After relaxing and freshening up we decided to take a walk around the Hotel to savour the  most of the beautiful weather and headed out. The Landmark London is perfectly situation as a base for London exploring, being only two stops or a 20 minute walk from Paddington, two more stops on the tube for Oxford Street and the centre, and within a five minutes walk to Regents Park, with attractions such a London Zoo just on the door step.

We made our way through the breath taking Atrium, with its beautifully situated Winter Garden restaurant sitting under the great glass roof. Its grandeur certainly didn't fail to impress us, and we felt very lucky to be able to stay here!

More to come soon!

We were gifted a stay at the Landmark London for the purpose of this review, but all my thoughts (and admiration!) are certainly my own!
