camping in cornwall

A few weeks ago we had our first camping experience with the boy to our beloved Cornwall. We spent a long weekend camping with my Mum and Andy on a campsite close to where we stayed at the beginning on the month. The weather forecast looked slightly dubious, but we thought it would a waste if we didn't take the chance to have a little break. We travelled down on a Sunny Friday, pitched out tent, went for a swim and ended the day with a BBQ.

The next day with the rain holding off we decided to spend the day at the beach whilst we had the chance. We drove a short way to Porthtowen beach, the very same one where I had stayed ten years ago with my friends in the summer after we finished our GCSE's. How funny to look back on the same landscape with eyes that have seen so much change since that time!

The next day we woke to the sound of rain falling on the canvas (such a wonderful sound!) after breakfast the rain cleared and we took a walk around the beautiful fishing lake on the campsite then made plans to visit a nearby National Trust property. Here we visited the house, walked around the gardens, flew the kite and watched a falconry display where Rob was lucky enough to be chosen to have a Harris Hawk land on him!

The next day Rob and I had a little tiem to ourselves and we visited a strange place called Flambards that encompasses a model Victorian village, a World War two museum and a theme park! It was very weird, but wonderful at the same time!

We had a really lovely little break, definitely needed before the madness that is to become these two months before the wedding! On the way home we managed to squeeze in a little trip to another National Trust, Castle Drogo!
